The red rebound knob lets you adjust the rebound and thereby control how quickly the rear shock extends again after being compressed. This lets you fine-tune the ride characteristics between controlled return and faster extension. The R version does not have a separate lockout lever and focuses on direct adjustment via air pressure and rebound.
